I would like to express my deepest gratitude towards Univ.-Prof.\ Dipl.-Ing.\ Dr.mont.\ Thomas Antretter for his academic guidance and insight.
I am also deeply indebted to Univ.-Prof.\ assoz.Prof.\ Dr.\ Jozef Keckes without whom our experiments at DESY would not have been possible and Ao.Univ.-Prof.\ Mag.rer.nat.\ Dr.mont.\ Peter Supancic for his expertise in Finite Element Simulation.
I want to thank my colleagues on the induction team for their support and camaraderie during a project that was challenging by any measure: Dr. Peter Raninger for keeping the project going despite all its hardships, DI Petri Prevedel for his expertise in materials testing, Vince Jaszfi for his company in manning the synchrotron as second PhD student on the project, and Dr. Johann Riedler for his deep knowledge of physics.
Further thanks within the MCL go to Christain Posch and Manuel Schemmel for providing the code-base of the material models, and Dr. Werner Ecker for his patience.
I gratefully acknowledge the financial support under the scope of the COMET program within the K2 Center "Integrated Computational Material, Process and Product Engineering (IC-MPPE)" (Project \textnumero 886385). This program is supported by the Austrian Federal Ministries for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) and for Digital and Economic Affairs (BMDW), represented by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), and the federal states of Styria, Upper Austria, and Tyrol.
Lastly I want to thank my family for putting me on the path of academic study in the first place, and my wife Madita for keeping me in Leoben for my PhD.
